Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Frank Reich Dedicates 60th Birthday Fundraiser to Fight Child Sex Abuse, Trafficking

Frank Reich, Linda Reich welcome fans and friends from 30-year NFL tenure to support kNot Today and help generate awareness of human trafficking crisis 

Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Frank Reich and his wife, Linda Reich are asking the football community to consider a donation of $6 or $60 to support their foundation kNot Today in honor of Coach Reich’s 60th birthday. Donations will be used to further the education and training of children, teachers, and healthcare workers across the United States to better identify and report sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking.

“The sexual abuse and exploitation of children in our country is a silent epidemic,” Frank Reich said. “Federal statistics present us a glimpse of the scale, but talk to any member of law enforcement, child advocacy center or clinical therapist and you’ll see an issue that is far more pervasive than numbers tell.”

• The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children logged 21.7 million incidents of child sexual abuse material online in 2020 – up 28 percent from the year before. Each of these incidents has the potential to house multiple photo and video files, resulting in a scale two or three times larger than the number indicates.
• The US National Human trafficking hotline reported that the number of online solicitations of sex trafficking reported to the hotline increased by more than 45 percent during the pandemic.
• The National Children’s Alliance – the governing body for nearly 1,000 Child Advocacy Centers across America, which serves as a hub for child abuse cases – shared data that 65% of their cases involved child sexual abuse. 

In 2019, Frank and Linda started kNot Today as a way to take action against the sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking of children.

“Linda and I have seen the impact of this heinous crime from coast to coast,” said Reich. “Our vision for kNot Today is to build a strong community – a team – of people who will stand with us to protect children. We are very encouraged by the impact kNot Today has had here in Indianapolis, and we are excited to expand that support to include North Carolina, Pennsylvania and New York.”

Each of those cities represent meaningful stops during Reich’s career in the NFL, which has spanned three decades playing and coaching for nine teams. He has five  AFC Championships, one NFC Championship and one SuperBowl ring, and the legacy continues, pursuing another Super Bowl ring as head coach of the Colts. But those who know Frank Reich know his legacy will extend beyond the wins and losses.

“This issue is hard to stomach, but as adults it’s our responsibility to be a voice for children,” said Reich. “The NFL community of fans, players, coaches, referees, and front office executives, is one of the strongest in the world. We are calling on that team to make a difference. Maybe that’s saving one child, putting one abuser behind bars, educating one more parent, changing one law.”

“I want to thank everybody for the many years of friendship and fandom, and the lasting legacy we will leave together,” said Reich.
