Giving Tuesday 2022: Play Your Part
This Giving Tuesday, you have the opportunity to Play Your Part in ending child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking. Whether playing your part means taking our pledge to protect children, educating yourself and others about the prevalence of child sexual abuse, donating to further our mission, or all of the above–there’s no part too big or too small this giving season.
In this blog, we’ll help you on your journey from learner to changemaker, so you can play your part every step of the way this month.
The Compassionate Learner: “I want to learn more about child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking.”
STEP 1:
PLEDGEIt’s important for all of us, whether we are experts or novices, to stay up to date on the issue and educate ourselves. For those of you who are new to the fight, you may be surprised to know that 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused at some point during their childhood. The unfortunate truth is that every 9 minutes, child protective services finds evidence for a child sexual abuse claim. This is the reality not only across the country, but right here in our community.
But, there is hope, and it starts with you! Participate in our #PlayYourPartChallenge and take the pledge to protect children. Everyone in our community has a part to play to prevent child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking, and we encourage you to play yours.
The Inspiring Advocate: “I’m passionate about ending child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking and I’m ready to take the next step.”
STEP 2:
DONATEWhether you’ve been in this fight with us for a while or you just took the pledge to protect children, we have an exciting opportunity for you. 95% of child sexual abuse is preventable through education, so kNot Today is working to ensure child sexual abuse prevention education for every K-12 student across the state of Indiana.
Not only does prevention education help prevent child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking, it also gives children who are victims of sexual trauma an opportunity to hear that what’s been happening to them is not okay. For many survivors, prevention education in the classroom was the first time they learned their body boundaries were being broken. That was their first step toward healing.
Your donation helps ensure this critical education is happening in classrooms across the state. Plus, every donation is DOUBLED up to $10,000 thanks to a generous match donor.
The Ultimate Changemaker: “This fight is going to take all of us. I’m ready to shout it from the rooftops!”
STEP 3:
NOMINATEYou’ve learned about the prevalence of child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking and now you’re ready to involve your community!
We encourage you to take the pledge and donate to our campaign, then nominate your friends and family to do the same. Send them a text, give them a call, and tag them on social media–it takes all of us to end this tragedy!
After you’ve played your part, invite others to do the same.
Let’s play our part, so kids can play theirs.
